Echoic

Echoic is the name used by a Finnish musician, Otto Nuoranne, for an IDM project based between Helsinki and London. The project is active from 2012 and works mainly from samples that are recorded, synthesized, then further processed and edited. Nuoranne’s approach centres on sound and synthesis rather than conventional composition, and the music is built up with additional parts such as vocals, guitar riffs and drum loops contributed by collaborating musicians.

Style and output

Echoic has released two albums and around 80 songs, most of them unreleased. The project makes frequent use of the wave editor as an audio tool and focuses on creating a wide range of sounds through sampling and manipulation.

Other act using the name

The name is also used by an alternative rock act consisting of Otto Nuoranne and Markus Vuoristo, based in Helsinki and London, whose work begins in 2011 and includes the album Springbook.
