George Duke

George Duke is an American keyboardist, composer, singer, arranger and producer. He works in jazz, funk, soul and R&B, and also performs on synths and electric piano. He is known for combining jazz improvisation with funk and popular music, and his career includes work both as a solo artist and as a collaborator.

He is born in San Rafael, California, and becomes active in the 1960s. He works with a number of artists and groups across his career, including Frank Zappa, Cannonball Adderley and Stanley Clarke. He also records and performs under his own name, with a catalogue that covers instrumental and vocal music.

His output includes albums such as The George Duke Band, Feel, Master of the Game and A Funky Thide of Sings, which reflect the range of his work in jazz fusion and funk. He is also associated with arrangement and production work beyond his solo recordings.
