Duff McKagan's Loaded
Duff McKagan's Loaded, also known as Loaded, is an American hard rock group from Seattle, United States. It forms in 1999 and remains active. The band is a supergroup built around Duff McKagan, who appears as vocalist, bassist and songwriter and is known from Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver.
Formation and early line-up
The first line-up includes Duff McKagan with guitarist Michael Barragan, guitarist Dez Cadena and drummer Taz Bentley. Barragan is formerly of Plexi, Cadena is formerly of Black Flag, and Bentley is formerly of The Reverend Horton Heat. The group releases Episode 1999: Live in 1999.
Recording and releases
In 2000 McKagan begins recording Dark Days, which is released in 2001. Geoff Reading, formerly of New American Shame and Green Apple Quick Step, and Dave Dederer, formerly of The Presidents of the United States of America, join on the recording. Additional guitar parts are added by touring guitarist Mike Squires, formerly of Nevada Bachelors and Harvey Danger. The band also releases the EP Wasted Heart and the live album Episode 1999: Live.
Later line-up changes
For touring, bassist Jeff Rouse joins the group. Rouse is formerly of Alien Crime Syndicate, Vendetta Red and Sirens Sister. During the tour, Squires and Rouse leave to rejoin Alien Crime Syndicate. They are later replaced by guitarist Dave Kushner, formerly of Wasted Youth and Electric Love Hogs, and bassist George Stuart Dahlquist, formerly of Asva and Burning Witch. In 2008 the band regroups with McKagan, Squires, Rouse and Reading.
Sick and later activity
The follow-up album Sick is released in 2009 and reaches number 43 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. A tour of the United States, Europe and South America follows, along with support slots for Black Stone Cherry and Mötley Crüe. After Reading leaves in 2009, Isaac Carpenter, formerly of Loudermilk, Gosling and The Exies, becomes the drummer. The group continues to work on new material.
