Dubious

Dubious is the project of Norwich jungle producer James McConnachie. The act starts in Sydney and later moves to London, where it becomes a band. Early line-ups include Tony Trombony and The Doctor, with Lady C and Miss MadM joining after the move to London.

The music begins with beatbox and drum and bass, then develops into a mixed style that draws on acid punk and combines mashed beats and bass with elements of dubstep, country, techno, romantic, new rave and new wave. The act is associated with cabaret, pop, nu wave, dance and filthy, and describes its approach as impressionistic, cathartic and ironic.

Tony Trombony is a continuing presence in the project’s evolution, and Dubious presents itself as deliberately provocative and not to be taken too seriously.
