Doyle

Doyle is a US horror punk and metal band from Sussex County, active from 2012. The group is led by guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, known for his work with the Misfits, and it centres on horror-themed hard rock and metal.

Line-up and sound

The band is built around Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein on guitar, with Dr. Chud on drums, Alex Story on vocals, and Graham on bass. Story comes from Cancerslug, while Graham is credited as having played in Graves and Let It Burn. The group also includes or has included Brandon Pertzborn, Anthony “Tiny” Biuso, Left Hand Graham, Wade Murff, Brandon Strate and DieTrich Thrall.

Doyle’s music combines horror punk with metal, and its sound is described through heavy riffs, aggressive vocals and a skull-crushing, hard-hitting style. Its influences and comparisons include the Misfits, Black Sabbath, Motörhead and Slayer.

Background

The project develops from Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein’s solo work and is presented as a quartet in its early form, with two former Misfits members in the line-up. The band is also associated with metalcore and, in one early listing, appears under the name Doyle Airence in France, with a first EP titled Submerge issued in June 2007. Another separate listing describes a different Doyle group as an Italian rock band formed in 2006 with an LP called Sweating Gold.
