DJ Toxic, also known as Philipp Braccini, is a Swiss trance and dance DJ and producer associated with euro trance and hard trance. He grows up in a musical environment, learns guitar at an early age, and begins performing at 12 with a grunge band. He starts DJing in 1996 and soon composes his own tracks, leading to a deal with Free Power Records.

Career

DJ Toxic makes his breakthrough in 2003 with “Secret Melody”, a VIVA-TV hit recorded with the Free Power Team. The track reaches the top of the Swiss dance charts. It is followed by “Sunlight” and “It’s Killing Me”, both of which also reach number one. His first album, Anastasia, is among the early trance albums to feature only original songs, and it establishes his profile in the Swiss dance scene.

He later releases the albums Echoes Of Nature and Home. His tracks also appear on compilations, and he presents the radio show Free Power FM on Kanal K.

Live work and media

DJ Toxic performs at major events in Switzerland and Europe, including Nature One, Energy, Evolution, Goliath, Street Parade and Mainstation. He also appears on Swiss radio and television programmes, and he sometimes performs unplugged versions of his songs.

Other work

After his early period of activity, he studies audio engineering at SAE in Zurich and completes his exams. He then builds a studio in Dietikon, Zurich, where he produces other artists and works across different genres. He also remixes tracks by the rock band Jerx, released on Universal.

In 2009, he founds the company Toxic Art. He is a resident DJ at Musikpark A1 in Dietikon and Musikpark A2 in Basel.

Awards and recognition

In 2004, DJ Toxic is nominated for the VIVA-Komet in the Best Newcomer National category. He also wins the Partyzoom Swiss Dance Music Award for best national record.
