DJ Cable

DJ Cable is a DJ from Essex, originally from Colchester, UK, who begins DJing in 1999. He builds his reputation in the UK club scene as a party DJ and turntablist, with a style based on originality, creativity and technical skill.

Style and sets

His sets combine hip hop, dancehall, indie, alternative, Baltimore club, house and electronica, alongside his own blends and mashups. He is known for genre-mixing performances rather than a single fixed style.

Appearances and collaborations

Cable plays alongside artists including Semtex, DJ Craze, Grandmaster Flash, Cash Money, Beat Torrent, C2C and Shortee Blitz, and also performs with Twista, Sean Kingston, Taio Cruz and Soulja Boy. His guest mixes air on BBC 1Xtra and Kiss FM, and he performs in clubs across the UK and in Europe.

Competition results

He reaches the 2003 ITF UK Finals in his first year of battling. He later wins the title of DMC UK Vice-Champion twice, reaches the DMC UK Final twice and places third in 2007. In 2008 he wins the DMC UK Team Championships as part of Bionic Stylus, and he is the first DJ to place in the top three in each of the UK DMC categories. He also wins the London heat of the Alizé Remixed 2008 competition.

Recordings and recognition

Some of his blends sign to AV8 Records in 2008, a label associated with Fatman Scoop, Crooklyn Clan and DJ LBR. His achievements lead to sponsorship from Triumvir Clothing and Gold Coin Clothing, as well as appearances on DMC DVDs, in magazines and newspapers, and on radio with BBC 1Xtra and Kiss FM.
