Dickster
Dickster is the solo psytrance project of UK producer Dick Trevor. He begins making music while studying sound engineering at college, and his early work leads to a partnership with Matt Coldrick. The pair make a trance track that TIP buys immediately, and from there they form the Green Nuns of the Revolution.
Green Nuns of the Revolution
With the Green Nuns of the Revolution, Trevor and Coldrick record for many English labels and various compilations, releasing one album on Flying Rhino. After a couple of years they add keyboard player Neil Cowley, who is then playing with the Brand New Heavies. His involvement brings more funk into the music. The group performs widely around the world with live guitar, keyboards and sometimes extra percussion, aiming for a rock-oriented live show. They also make a video for MTV. The group splits in 1998.
Later collaborations and projects
After the Green Nuns end, Trevor works with a wide range of artists under different names. On Flying Rhino he forms the Bumbling Loons with James Monro, and Slinky Nuns/Seeka with George Barker. On Twisted Records he collaborates with Simon Posford as Infernal Machine and with Tristan as Trickster. He also works with Jules Evans on a Western Rebel Alliance remix for the Shpongle Remix album.
On Phantasm he records with Chris Boing as the Bisto Boys and with John Ford as Mindfield/Bisto Boys, later also working with John Ford’s son Junya, known as Eskimo, as Jumanji. This project has an album scheduled for Nano. He also teams up with Jon Om, formerly of Aquatec Records, to form Green Oms, which releases an album on Dragonfly. Another partnership, AMD, is with Jules Hamer of Aphid Moon; this act releases material on Alchemy and Nano and works on an album for Nano. Other collaborations include Cosmosis, Pogo of Wingmakers and Lucas of TIP.
Work outside trance
Outside the trance scene, Trevor joins Danny Howells to form Science Dept. Under that name they release tracks on Bedrock, including Repercussion and Persuasion, and on Renaissance Records with Breathe, which reaches the UK top 60. They also release Kinkyfunk on Yoshitoshi in the US and Dusk til Dawn on C2 Records, which reaches the UK top 40 and becomes a notable Ibiza track in 2004. The pair later remix Soldier by Destiny’s Child and also complete a remix for Madonna. With Andy Morris of Narcotic Thrust, Trevor forms Phat Static and records their first track together. They also remix Offir Nassim for Star69 Records.
As Dickster
Under the name Dickster, Trevor releases tracks on Twisted, Phantasm and TIP. He also works with Anna Hefetz, a DJ and producer from Israel, as Annarchy Rhythm v. Dickster; their first release is a remix of Mumbo Jumbo on Transient Records. Trevor and Hefetz later release on Nano Records and Liquid & Solid Records from Serbia. He also appears as part of a more progressive-trance project with George Barker, with the first release Eargate appearing on the Hibernation compilation on Iboga Records, alongside a collaboration with James Monro.
DJ work
Trevor also DJs internationally from 1998, while continuing to focus mainly on writing and producing music. His work spans psychedelic trance, psytrance, full-on and related psychedelic styles.
