Diarmo
Diarmo is the solo project of Diarmuid Slattery, a United Kingdom-based sound designer and musician. His work draws on drone, ambient, glitch and melancholic electronic music, using bent electronics, glitch-based re-recorded audio and detailed rhythmic programming. He also incorporates influences from a broad range of styles, with a strong emphasis on early 1990s electronic sounds.
Solo work and releases
Diarmo releases music under his own name and through separate collaborations including Monosum, Samas and _double_d_. His first tracks appear on the Samas EP. He later releases Circadian, a six-track EP, and has tracks included on compilations worldwide. His first full-length album, I am a visitor here, appears on A Future Without Records.
Collaborations, sound design and other activity
He works on material with Tokyo musician Kuroi Mori for Kuroi Mori’s album, and he also creates sound designs for visual art for Istvan Laszlo and Sonny Sanjay Vadgama. In addition to recording, he teaches music production and creative media production in London.
Labels and organisations
Diarmo is associated with A Future Without, Subvariant and Wavemaster. He also starts and runs Basilar Records, which begins in 2011. He founds and runs Departures247, a touring collaboration of audio and visual artists from around Europe.
