Dervish

Dervish is an Irish traditional and folk group formed in 1989. The band is based in Ireland and remains active.

The group begins as a five-piece featuring Liam Kelly, Shane Mitchell, Martin McGinley, Brian McDonagh and Michael Holmes. In 1991, singer and bodhrán player Cathy Jordan joins the band. The group’s line-up is also associated with Shane McAleer and Séamus O'Dowd.

Dervish’s first album is The Boys of Sligo. The follow-up, Harmony Hill, brings the band wider critical acclaim and is described as a landmark Irish traditional album.
