Deportees
Deportees are a Swedish indie pop and indie rock group from Umeå, active since 2003. The band consists of Peder Stenberg, Anders Stenberg, Mattias Lidström and Jonas Lidström. Their early lineup also includes drummer Thomas Hedlund, and the group is described as coming from both Vindeln and Umeå.
Career
The band’s debut single, Arrest Me ’til it Hurts, draws on pop, funk, country music and Prince. It attracts attention from both listeners and critics and is followed by the first full-length album, All Prayed Up, in 2004. That album receives nominations for two Swedish Grammis awards, for Best New Artist and Best Pop Group.
Deportees tour in Sweden, the United States, the UK and Ireland. Their second album, Damaged Goods, appears in 2006 and involves production work from Pelle Gunnerfeldt and Björn Yttling. Their third album, Under the Pavement - The Beach, follows in 2009 and is produced by Måns Lundberg. In January 2010, they win the P3 Gold award for Best Pop. Their fourth album, Islands & Shores, is released in 2011.
