Defcon 1

Defcon 1 is a parallel music project by Brazilian illustrator and comic book artist Daniel HDR. It begins in 1991 and explores electronic music with influences from Kraftwerk, Recoil, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242 and Depeche Mode, among others. HDR presents it as an informal outlet, made for experimentation rather than with any fixed commercial aim.

Recordings

The project has two demo tapes: Improvise, released in 1991, and Hi, Argentina, released in 1993. Later releases include Dirtymedia in 2001 and 7RU57 (Trust) in 2005. It also has a release titled Whence and Whither?.

Style

Defcon 1 focuses on electronic material, drawing on industrial and synth-based influences. The project is listed with metal tags, including Italian metal and thrash metal.
