Decomposing in Paris
Decomposing in Paris is an alternative electronic and trip-hop act from Belfast, Northern Ireland, formed in 2011. The group brings together atmospheric orchestral pop and sonic experimentation.
Formation and members
The band is founded by Becca Hopkins, who sings in an extended vocal soprano range, Aoife Lynch, who plays piano and drums and also composes, and Garvin Clements, who plays guitar and bass and produces. Their work is associated with a blend of orchestral and experimental pop influences.
Releases and early attention
In 2012, the group self-releases a four-track debut EP. Its track “Personal Ad” brings the band its first radio play on BBC Introducing, and this leads to a live session performance for the same platform. The release also receives further radio support, positive reviews and a streamed performance on GiftedLive.com.
Touring and later activity
During summer 2013, Decomposing in Paris tours the United States, performing at venues including The Empty Glass in Charleston, West Virginia, The Blind Tiger in Greensboro, North Carolina, and The Monkey Wrench in Louisville, Kentucky. The band’s second EP follows in April 2014 and is linked to a fundraising event for Hope For Justice, an anti-human trafficking charity.
