History

The band forms in 1999 and releases its demo Helpless Souls in 2004. The demo receives positive reviews from fanzines and webzines internationally. At that point, the line-up includes Emre Üren and Erkin Öztürk on guitars, Mustafa Karakuş on vocals, Mert Tartac on bass, and Semih Örnek on drums. Soon afterwards, Mustafa Karakuş and Semih Örnek leave, and Volkan Ceyhan and Kaya Özgen Yalçın take over vocals and drums.

In 2006, Decimation records its debut album, Entering the Celestial Ruins, at Midas'ın Kulaklığı Studios in Ankara with Erkan Tatoğlu of Suicide (Tur). The artwork is made by Phlegeton of Wormed. The album is released by the Istanbul label Hammer Müzik in 2007 and attracts attention from listeners.

After the album, Kaya Özgen Yalçın leaves and Goremaster joins on drums. In 2008, the band records and shares the promo track “Nocturnal Chaos” under the title Promo 2008. Following the end of its contract with Hammer Müzik, Decimation looks for a new label.

A new song, “Peripheral Profligacy of Transcendental Lower World,” leads to a deal with US label Comatose Music for the album Anthems of an Empyreal Dominion. That release includes re-recorded versions of “Entering the Celestial Ruins” and “Nocturnal Chaos”. Its artwork is by Toshihiro Egawa, and the booklet and layout are designed by Ozan Yıldırım.
