Deadwall

Deadwall is a Leeds alternative rock and pop group active since 2011. The band forms as a five-piece and builds its sound around loud, free guitars, a versatile lead voice, Hammond organ, Mellotron and a driving rhythm section.

Formation and early activity

Deadwall forms in February 2011. Early live shows help the group establish a local following, leading to a sold-out performance at Leeds’ 360 Club and then local radio play.

Recordings

The band’s debut EP, Four Songs by Deadwall, is recorded with Steve Whitfield, whose credits include The Cure and Yann Tiersen. It is released in February 2012 and made available as a free download through the band’s Bandcamp page.

Reception

The group receives favourable local press coverage, with descriptions of its music emphasising shimmering textures, contained tension, colour and atmosphere.
