Darren Poyzer is a singer-songwriter active in playing, recording and promoting original music since 1986. His work combines raw emotion with socio-political themes, humour and charisma. He has a background in live music promotion and event hosting, and his activity spans acoustic music, cabaret, poetry and community arts.

Releases

Poyzer has three self-published CDs and one live concert DVD. His releases include Global (issued as both a CD and DVD), Brilliant Words and Passion & Conflict. He also produces compilation work, including Words & Pictures, an acoustic songwriter compilation for Raw Fish Records.

Live music and events

In the mid-1980s, Poyzer co-hosts Stand And Deliver, which contributes to the rise of alternative cabaret and comedy. He later leads the music scene at The Witchwood, a live music venue in Greater Manchester, through the end of the 1990s. At the start of the Manchester acoustic scene in the early 2000s, he fronts regular Acoustica events around Greater Manchester.

Later projects and community work

In 2008, Poyzer launches 3 Chords & The Truth, a regular song and poetry event in Cheshire. He also becomes an artistic director for The Hive, a social enterprise project. Alongside his performing work, he continues to work with special needs children and adults, providing music therapy and tuition, and he runs occasional music and songwriter workshops.

Poyzer stars alongside a wide range of well-known contemporaries during his career. His work is rooted in original song performance, with a strong link to the Manchester and Cheshire live music scenes.
