Danja
Danja is an American record producer, composer and songwriter from Virginia Beach, United States. Born Floyd Nathaniel Hills in 1982, he begins by playing drums and piano in his early teens and starts out performing in church while growing up. He is also known as US producer Nate Hills.
Career
In 2001, he meets Timbaland by chance, and two years later Timbaland brings him to Miami to work in his studio. He goes on to work closely with Timbaland on a wide range of songs that help bring Timbaland back to prominence in 2006. Their work includes Nelly Furtado’s “Promiscuous” and “Say It Right”, Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack”, “What Goes Around...Comes Around” and “My Love”, Björk’s “Innocence” and “Earth Intruders”, Katharine McPhee’s “Love Story”, and Timbaland’s own “Give It to Me” and “The Way I Are”.
He also produces Britney Spears’ “Gimme More”, “Break the Ice”, “Get Naked (I Got A Plan)”, “Hot As Ice”, “Perfect Lover”, and the bonus tracks “Get Back” and “Outta This World” from the Blackout album. He works on “Wonder Woman” by Trey Songz, co-produces Madonna’s “4 Minutes”, and co-produces the single “When I’m Gone” by Simple Plan. Other credits include Mariah Carey’s “Migrate”, several songs on Danity Kane’s Welcome to the Dollhouse, Cassie’s “Official Girl” with The Clutch, and work on Ciara’s Fantasy Ride, including the “Crunktown” and “Kingdom Of Dance” sections of the album’s three-disc compilation version.
Equipment and working methods
He uses a laptop, an Edirol MIDI controller, an Akai MPC4000, an Alesis Andromeda A6 synthesizer, a Korg Triton and a Yamaha Motif. He also uses Steinberg Cubase. In his productions, he often tags his work by saying his name within the songs.
