Dan Reed Network are a funk-rock band from Portland, United States. They form in 1984 and remain active. The group’s line-up includes singer and guitarist Dan Reed, guitarist Brion James, bassist Melvin Brannon II, drummer Dan Pred and keyboardists Rick DiGiallonardo, Blake Sakamoto and Rob Daiker.

History

The band starts with Dan Reed, Brion James, Melvin Brannon II, Dan Pred and Rick DiGuiarllonado. In 1987, Blake Sakamoto replaces DiGuiarllonado on keyboards. Dan Reed Network later reform after an unofficial breakup in 1993, with Rob Daiker replacing Sakamoto in 2015.

Releases and live work

Dan Reed Network release the studio albums Dan Reed Network in 1988, Slam in 1989 and The Heat in 1991. After their initial split, they issue the two-disc live album Live At Last! Halfway Around The World in 1997. Their later albums include Fight Another Day in 2016, Origins in 2018 and Let's Hear It for the King in 2022.

Reception and associations

The band are associated with funk metal, funk rock, hard rock and pop rock. They draw comparisons to Lenny Kravitz and Living Colour, receive strong reviews, and build a reputation as a live act. They also open for The Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi, and sell nearly 2 million albums before their first split.
