Dan Croll

Dan Croll is a British singer-songwriter from Newcastle-under-Lyme, England, born Daniel Francis Croll in 1990. He moves to Liverpool at the age of 18 to study at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). While there, he wins the Musicians Benevolent Fund’s national Songwriter of the Year award and is one of eight students selected for a one-to-one session with LIPA founder Sir Paul McCartney.

Early releases and labels

Croll signs to Turn First Records at the start of 2012. His first release appears on Communion Records’ New Faces compilation. His debut single, From Nowhere, is released in 2012 through Turn First and his own imprint, Racquet Records, as a digital download and limited 7-inch.

Breakthrough singles

From Nowhere spends three days at the top of the Hype Machine popular charts and receives radio play on BBC 6 Music, XFM, Amazing Radio and BBC Radio 1. Croll is named a Guardian New Band of the Day in November 2012. He follows this with the singles Compliment Your Soul in 2013 and In/Out later the same year. He also releases the song Home on his VEVO channel.

Debut album and soundtrack appearances

Croll completes his debut album in 2013 and later announces it as Sweet Disarray. His song Compliment Your Soul appears on the soundtrack for FIFA 14, and a remix of From Nowhere, titled From Nowhere (Baardsen Remix), appears on the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack and is featured on the game’s Radio Mirror Park station.
