Damn Vandals

Damn Vandals are a UK rock group associated with alternative rock, post-punk and punked-up stoner rock. They are based in London and are active under the name Damn Vandals as a band.

Releases

The group releases the double A-side single “Cities of a Plastic World” / “Too Lazy to Die Too Stoned to Live”, taken from the album Rocket Out of London. That album follows their debut Done For Desire.

Done For Desire appears in Glasswerk’s Top 10 Albums of 2012 and Bloomberg’s list of the best CDs of 2012. It also receives strong radio support, including airplay and praise on BBC 6Music from Shaun Keaveny and Chris Hawkins, and support from Tom Robinson’s introducing strand.

Recording and critical reception

Rocket Out of London is produced by Julian Simmons, who also produces the band’s debut. Simmons’s wider credits include work with Midlake, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Ed Sheeran, Guillemots and Goldheart Assembly.

The band is described in press commentary as having a forceful identity and combining rock with punk and stoner rock elements. Their songs are presented as direct, high-energy material, and their debut is repeatedly characterised as a standout release.
