Daisy Chapman

Daisy Chapman is a singer, pianist and songwriter from Bristol, United Kingdom, born in 1979. Her first contact with an instrument comes at the age of seven, and she spends much of her youth in a residential school, using every chance to spend time in the music room.

Solo work

Chapman performs with just piano and voice, and her songs are described through their contrast of quiet passages and forceful vocal delivery. Her voice ranges from a whisper to a powerful howl, and her solo material is marked by dark subject matter, emotional intensity and a stark lyrical approach. One album, And there shall be none, focuses on relationship breakdowns and shifts between intimate moments and sudden vocal outbursts to reflect the instability of romantic relationships.

Scarlatti Tilt and other work

In 2004, Chapman is one of the founders of the band Scarlatti Tilt, which later receives an invitation to the Fusion Festival in 2009. She also records through Dandyland, and her solo activity includes performances in the UK, a tour of the United States and plans for a solo tour in Germany.

Chapman is associated with piano-led songs and a dramatic vocal style.
