Daddy G
Daddy G is the stage name of Grantley Marshall, a musician from Bristol, England. He is a founding member of Massive Attack and is also associated with The Wild Bunch, the Bristol sound system that helped shape the city’s music scene in the 1980s.
Early career and Bristol scene
Marshall is part of the Bristol music scene through The Wild Bunch, alongside Robert del Naja and Andrew Vowles, both of whom later become Massive Attack members. The Wild Bunch disbands in 1986.
Massive Attack
After The Wild Bunch ends, Marshall, del Naja and Vowles form Massive Attack. The group develops as a trip-hop act and is widely regarded as one of the first and defining groups in the genre. Marshall appears on Massive Attack’s albums as part of the band’s core line-up.
Other work
Marshall also mixes a CD for the DJ-Kicks mix series.
