D-Block & S-te-Fan

D-Block & S-te-Fan are a Dutch duo from Den Haag, also known as DBSTF. The group consists of Diederik Bakker and Stefan den Daas, and has been active since 2004. They work in dance, electro house, electronic, happy hardcore and hardstyle, and are known primarily for hardstyle production.

Formation and early work

Diederik Bakker and Stefan den Daas start producing in 2004 and meet later that year in The Hague, Netherlands. Before forming the duo, both artists have moderate success as solo acts. Their work together brings them greater recognition, including tracks such as “Built This City” and “Alive”.

Releases, labels and aliases

After they begin working as a team, their releases receive strong support and are played by major DJs. The duo perform under several names and projects, including the house alias DBSTF, DS Conspiracy, and the live act Ghost Stories, which includes D-Block’s sister, Evelyn Bakker. Between 2006 and 2013, they host the hardstyle label Next Chapter, which releases tracks including “Keep It Coming”, “Lockdown”, “Natte Asbak” and “Guilty”. They later own Scantraxx Evolutionz, a sublabel of Dj The Prophet’s Scantraxx.

Festival appearances

Their success leads to bookings at major events including Qlimax, DefQon.1, Mysteryland, Decibel, Thrillogy, Reverze and Q-Base.
