Crystal Waters is an American singer and songwriter from Philadelphia, United States, associated with house, dance and pop music. Born in 1961, she becomes widely known in the 1990s through the singles “Gypsy Woman” and “100% Pure Love”.

Career

Waters issues three studio albums: Surprise (1991), Storyteller (1994) and Crystal Waters (1997). Each of these albums produces at least one Top 40 single on the Billboard Hot 100. Her 2007 collaboration with Alex Gaudino, “Destination Calabria”, also appears in her catalogue of notable recordings.

Recognition and impact

Her work receives multiple industry honours, including six ASCAP Songwriter Awards, three American Music Award nominations, one MTV Video Music Award nomination and four Billboard Music Awards. She also has twelve number-one hits on the Billboard Dance Chart. Billboard includes her in a list of notable dance artists in December 2016.
