Cosmosis

Cosmosis is a UK psychedelic trance group made up of Jeremy Van Kampen and William Bryan Halsey, also known as Bilbo. The act is associated with the early development of the goa and psytrance sound in the early 1990s, alongside artists such as Total Eclipse, Hallucinogen, Man With No Name and Astral Projection.

Early releases and scene influence

Cosmosis first issues Cosmology, an album released in 1996 that is regarded as one of the early artist albums in goa trance and as one of the genre’s classic records. Van Kampen leaves the project in 1997 to focus on the Laughing Buddha project, after which Halsey continues Cosmosis as a solo vehicle.

Subsequent albums and related work

As Cosmosis, Halsey releases Intergalactic in 2000, described as the project’s best-selling album, followed by Contact in 2002. He then works with DJ Kuma as Mumbo Jumbo on Speaking In Tongues, released in 2003, before issuing Trancendance in 2005 and Psychedelica Melodica in 2007. In 2009, Fumbling For the Funky Frequency appears and is noted for returning to the project’s earlier sound. Halsey also produces the Mumbo Jumbo project with Mitch Davies.
