Cold War Kids

Cold War Kids are an indie rock group from Fullerton, United States, active since 2004. The band’s lineup includes Matt Aveiro, Jonnie Bo Russell, Matt Maust, Nathan Willett, Dann Gallucci, Joe Plummer, Matthew Schwartz and David Quon. Their music is associated with blue-eyed soul, blues rock, indie rock and rock.

Career

The group forms in 2004 and makes its breakthrough with the debut album Robbers & Cowards, released in 2006 and received with considerable acclaim. Two years later they follow it with Loyalty to Loyalty, a darker record. In 2011, Mine Is Yours adds a more anthemic quality to their catalogue.

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts features the single “Miracle Mile” and marks the band’s first release with guitarist Dann Gallucci. Gallucci, formerly of Modest Mouse and the Murder City Devils, also produces the album with Lars Stalfors. Nathan Willett describes the ten-track record as one on which the band tries new styles and arrangements while keeping some songs sparse, and it is recorded at the band’s private studio in San Pedro, California.

Cold War Kids’ work combines eclectic indie rock with a range of influences across their albums, moving from the acclaim of their debut through the darker tone of Loyalty to Loyalty and the broader, more anthemic approach of Mine Is Yours.
