C.N.BLUE

C.N.BLUE, short for Code Name Blue, is a rock band from Seoul, South Korea. The group forms under FNC Entertainment and begins in Japan in 2009. It starts as a three-member act, with the members Jonghyun, Minhyuk, Jungshin and Jung Yong Hwa featured in the rollout for the first album Bluetory. The band’s early releases establish its mix of rock and K-pop, with Korean-language material and a mainstream idol-band profile.

Early releases and breakthrough

The group issues four teaser videos for Bluetory in January, each focusing on one member in sequence. It then debuts its first mini-album with the lead single “Loner” (Korean: “외톨이야”). The first mini-album follows the band’s formation and helps define its early image as a Korean rock act with pop visibility.

Line-up changes and later work

In August 2019, Lee Jonghyun leaves the band, and C.N.BLUE continues as a trio. The group releases its eighth mini-album, Re-Code, in 2020. In 2021 it releases Wanted, and in 2024 it follows with X, described as its first Korean mini-album since Wanted and its 10th mini-album overall.

Activity

C.N.BLUE remains active and is associated with world touring, including its first American tour in over a decade.
