Clodhopper

Clodhopper is a US folk rock band formed in Missoula, Montana in 1995 by Daniel Pearson and local record store owner Tim Bierman. The group plays hard-driving hillbilly-influenced music and performs in a style built around rough versions of old songs and stark ballads played in modal tunings.

Line-up and activity

The band uses a revolving rhythm section. Musicians associated with the group include the husband-and-wife team Justin and Anne Stark, along with Montana native Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam.

Performances and associations

Clodhopper plays logger bars and punk clubs in its home region, as well as theatres and clubs on the West Coast. The band opens for a range of acts including Emmylou Harris, Richard Buckner, 16 Horsepower and Dave Alvin.
