Clay
Clay is the name used by several different artists and groups, including a Nigerian solo rock-pop act, a post-industrial electronic side project from the early 1990s, a band from Argentina, and an EDM duo called Clay & Maxam.
Nigerian rock-pop artist
One Clay is a one-person contemporary rock and pop alternative act from Lagos, Nigeria. Her music draws on influences including Avril Lavigne, The Cranberries, Alanis Morissette and Onyeka Onwenu, and she works in a style described as a blend of rock and pop with a familiar but distinct sound. She releases singles such as Ogadsinma, Anwuli, Dancing in the Sun and Lemanya, as well as DOWN, which features Nigerian alternative rock band One Last Autograph and presents a heavier side of her sound. She also records covers of Asa’s Jailer, Michael Jackson’s Heal the World and Wizkid’s I Love My Baby.
Her work receives attention through a nomination for Ogadisinma at the Nigerian Music Video Awards and a win for best recording of the year in 2012 for Dancing in the Sun at the Top Nigerian Music Award. She is also described as a prominent figure in Nigerian rock music.
Argentine metal band
Another Clay is an Argentine alt-metal and melodic metalcore band that begins in 2008. The lineup listed is Juan Pablo Salinas on vocals, Alejandro Ulrich on drums, Ezquiel Arias on guitar, and Martin Merayo on bass and vocals. The band records its first album, How far ..., and later makes the fan-participation video ZOA and the live-footage video Hitman. It plays alongside local bands including Carajo, D-Mente, Cabezones and Plan Cuatro, as well as international act Killswitch Engage. After these shows, the group tours as a headlining act.
The band later records a second release, with Ulrich Alexander from Malice joining as drummer during that period. After more than a year of work, No Importa Lo Que Hacemos appears with 11 new tracks, including contributions from Javier “Knario” Compiano of PL4N. The group then tours with the No Limits Tour 2011.
Early 1990s electronic project
