Clams

Clams, also credited as CLAMS, is a Japanese shoegaze band from Osaka, formed in September 2001. The group includes Asami Clam, Hisashi Clam, Takayuki Clam and Takeshi Clam. It is associated with shoegaze, dream pop, indie and noise pop, and is also described as rock.

Style and influences

The band’s sound is shaped by a pop sensibility influenced by The Flaming Lips, Yo La Tengo and My Bloody Valentine. This places Clams within a Japanese guitar-based underground context that combines melody with shoegaze and noise elements.

Releases

Clams’ first album, CLAMS, is released in January 2003. The group also has a release called Clam Jam from 2010.
