Claire Nicolson is a British multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter from the United Kingdom, based in Norwich and London. She begins her solo career after working in collaborations with a range of established acts.

Style and performance

Classically trained, she works across acoustic pop, rock, country, folk and indie. Her performances vary from solo acoustic sets to a stripped-back three-piece format using loop pedal and percussion, and to a seven-piece band that is unofficially known as The Paramedics because of its green ambulance outfits.

Recognition and comparisons

Nicolson attracts attention from journalists, radio presenters and other musicians. BBC Radio 1 presenter Rob Da Bank describes her single You & I as “possibly the greatest record in the world right now”, and the track receives plays on BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6. The Fly compares her androgynous glamour with Bowie, while Ed Harcourt describes her musical style as “Dusty Springfield weaned on acid folk rock.”
