Christina Aguilera is an American singer, songwriter, actress and television personality. Born Christina María Aguilera, she appears on The All New Mickey Mouse Club in 1993 and 1994, then records “Reflection” for the animated film Mulan in 1998 before signing with RCA Records.

Recording career

Aguilera rises to prominence in 1999 with her self-titled debut album, which reaches number one on the US Billboard 200 and produces three US Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles: “Genie in a Bottle”, “What a Girl Wants” and “Come on Over Baby (All I Want Is You)”. She later moves towards a more provocative style on Stripped in 2002, then releases the retro-influenced Back to Basics in 2006, her second US number-one album.

Her other well-known songs from this period include “Lady Marmalade”, “Dirrty”, “Beautiful” and “Ain’t No Other Man”. In the early 2010s she features on “Moves like Jagger”, “Feel This Moment” and “Say Something”; “Moves like Jagger” reaches number one in the US, making her one of the artists to top the Billboard Hot 100 across three consecutive decades.

Film, television and other work

Aguilera stars in Burlesque in 2010 and contributes to its soundtrack, receiving a Golden Globe Award nomination. She also appears in Nashville in 2015 and has roles in The Emoji Movie and Zoe. On television, she serves as a coach on The Voice from 2011 to 2016.

Outside performance, she serves as an ambassador for the World Food Programme and co-founds the company Playground.

Aguilera releases two Spanish-language albums, including Mi Reflejo in 2000, which becomes the best-selling Latin pop album of that year.
