Chris Mann

Chris Mann is an American classically trained singer from Wichita, Kansas, with a voice that combines operatic technique and contemporary pop. He begins piano and performance work at a young age and develops an early interest in singing after discovering that the records he thinks are Frank Sinatra recordings are actually sung by his grandfather. His musical influences include Pavarotti, Robbie Williams and Sinatra, which shape his style as a classically trained tenor working in pop and operatic pop.

Music and collaborations

Mann works with a number of major producers, including Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Walter Afanasieff, Greg Wells, Mark Hammond and Keith Thomas. With Keith Thomas, he records a duet with Heather Headley. He also tours with India.Arie and Idina Menzel. His voice appears in films and television shows including Avatar, Glee 3D, Letters to Juliet, Tangled, Sex and the City 2, The Smurfs, 2012 and The Philanthropist. He contributes vocals to Fox’s Glee and its soundtracks, and acts on-screen as a member of the Dalton Academy Warblers.

Screen work and licensing

His original music is licensed for film and television, including Drop Dead Diva, When in Romance and Honey 2. Office Max licenses his music for a national back-to-school television campaign, and Lifetime uses “Beautiful Life” for the promo soundtrack to Coming Home, a reality series about soldiers returning home from war. He also appears on Howie Mandel’s Mobbed and performs in stage musicals.

Live appearances and public profile

Mann performs at events such as the Sundance Film Festival, the Academy Awards Young Hollywood Party, the American Film Institute Awards and the Bel-Air Film Festival. He also appears in “David Foster and Friends” at special events in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., where he performs “The Prayer” with Katharine McPhee and David Foster. He is a six-time headliner at national “Mom Blog” conventions.

Writing, production and online presence

Alongside performing, Mann works as a writer and producer. He is one half of the production team Church+State, which produces “Sweet Vendetta”, the debut single for Melody Thornton of The Pussycat Dolls. He builds a fan base through social media and through his weekly “MANNblogMonday” feature at ChrisMannMusic.com.

Television and reality competition

Mann auditions for the second season of The Voice on NBC and is associated with Team Xtina.
