Chris Keys is a singer-songwriter from Portstewart, a seaside town on the Northern Ireland coast. He writes from an acoustic base and his songs are described as drawing on pop, folk and country as well as an easy-listening style.
Career
Keys begins writing songs in his early twenties and goes on to perform at shows and festivals across Europe. He supports a range of bands and artists during this period. He is based in County Down and works on his debut album.
Recordings
His released work includes the EPs New Day and View From A Satellite, along with the singles Tonight and You. These recordings receive airplay and support from BBC Radio Ulster and Downtown Radio.
Broadcast and live appearances
Keys is introduced by Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music. He also performs in the round with Grammy winners Nanci Griffith and Jim Lauderdale through the Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival. Through BelNash, he is invited to showcase in Nashville at the Bluebird Cafe and at other venues.
Recognition
He is described as an award-winning singer-songwriter and receives praise from presenters including Ralph McLean, Ricky Ross, Cherrie Mcllwaine, George Jones and Gerry Kelly.
