Chloe Slater

Chloe Slater is a British singer-songwriter and indie pop artist from Bournemouth and Manchester. Born in 2003, she grows up in Bournemouth and starts writing songs at the age of 13. She later moves to Manchester for university, where she develops her sound through the city’s open mic scene.

Music and style

Her work sits across indie pop, indie rock, pop and singer-songwriter territory, with a sound that also draws on alternative and grungy indie elements. She collaborates closely with writer and producer Jack Shute. Her songs combine personal writing with social observation, and her lyrics often focus on youth, identity, modern society and wider social inequality.

Debut EP

Chloe Slater’s debut EP, You Can’t Put A Price On Fun, presents this approach clearly, bringing together her individual style and direct lyric writing. The track Price On Fun is noted for its sharp wit and commentary, while Nothing Shines On This Island offers a critique of British politics over gritty production. 24 Hours includes an alt-pop chorus aimed at a younger audience.

Associated project

She is also associated with Midnight People.
