Chains

Chains is a Japanese group name that appears in several different musical contexts, including hardcore-influenced metal, punk, hard rock, doom metal and melodic hardcore. One version is a San Francisco act described as delivering hardcore-influenced metal with a polished sound. In that project, vocalist Matt Wilson, also known for Set Your Goals, uses Chains as an outlet for material that is darker and more aggressive than his work in that band.

Another project associated with the name is led by Sacramento producer-rapper prod.chains. A further Chains entry is a harmony-focused band featuring Ben Parker, formerly of Ben & Jason, and singer Kate Aumonier, with a debut album titled Chains planned for release in 2013.

There is also a Bulgarian metal band called Chains, formed in 2008 by four friends in Blagoevgrad and Dobrinishte. That group starts with thrash metal, becomes active in Bulgaria’s extreme music scene through energetic live performances, and plays shows alongside bands including Kuln, Maze, Killmate, JND, Unseen Consequences, Six and Cut Off. It also records three demo songs in its home town. Its members are Ivan Munin “VANS” on guitar and vocals, Desislava Hristova on drums, Ivaylo “FISH” Tsatsov on guitars, and Deyan “DiDoN” Nachev on bass guitar.
