Case

Case Woodard is a US R&B vocalist from The Bronx, New York City, and he is signed to Def Soul Records. He first works in the R&B industry as a backing singer, including with Usher, before establishing a solo career.

Solo career

He releases his self-titled debut album in 1996. It includes “Touch Me Tease Me”, a collaboration with Foxy Brown and Mary J. Blige that appears on the soundtrack to The Nutty Professor. The single goes gold and reaches number 4 on the R&B chart and number 14 on the Hot 100.

His second album, Personal Conversation, follows in 1999 and also goes gold. It features “Happily Ever After”, which reaches number 3 on the R&B chart and number 15 on the Hot 100, and “Think Of You”, which reaches number 50 on the R&B chart.

Open Letter, released in 2001, is described as his best-known album. It goes gold, helped by “Missing You”, his only number 1 single so far on the R&B chart. That song also reaches number 4 on the Hot 100.

Soundtrack work and later career

Several of his best-known songs appear on film soundtracks, including “Touch Me Tease Me” from The Nutty Professor, “Faded Pictures” from Rush Hour, “Best Man I Can Be” from The Best Man, and “Missing You” from The Nutty Professor II. After the success of Open Letter, he moves to Atlanta to be closer to his children. In 2002 he accidentally shoots himself in the throat, but makes a full recovery without damage to his vocal cords.

He later continues recording while dealing with changes in the music industry, and after professional differences he leaves Def Jam Records in 2004. He then works with manager Blue Williams to form the independent label Indigo Blue. His album The Rose Experience is also part of his catalogue.
