Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine
Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine, often shortened to Carter USM, are a British alternative rock group formed in 1988 in Streatham, United Kingdom. The band is associated with alternative dance, alternative rock, grebo and post-punk.
Line-up
The group begins as a duo with James “Jim Bob” Morrison on vocals and guitar, and Les “Fruitbat” Carter on guitar. In 1994, Wez joins on drums, and in 1996 the line-up expands again to include Salvatore Alessi on bass, Ben Lambert on keyboards and Steve, Wez’s brother, on guitar. The verified membership also includes Jim Bob, Fruitbat, Wez, Salvador Alessi and Steve.
Recordings and chart success
The band releases seven albums before its first split. Its most successful single is “The Only Living Boy in New Cross”, taken from the album 1992: The Love Album, which reaches number 7 in the UK singles chart and number 26 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart in the United States. The group disbands in 1998 and reunites in 2007.
