Carnival Collective

Carnival Collective is a Brighton-based group active since 1990. It begins as a purely percussive project and develops into a large, changeable ensemble of around 30 to 50 musicians. The line-up includes a full horn section, vocalists, guitar, bass and electronics, supported by a large group of percussionists.

The group plays a broad mix of styles, ranging from jungle to surf punk, with other elements drawn from ska, surf, funk, swing and reggae. Its performances at Glastonbury and other festivals are part of its reputation, and it also stages occasional street parades with a mobile sound system.

Its album Freak Rocket appears in 2009.
