Carnifex

Carnifex are a US deathcore band from Fallbrook, California, active since 2005. The group’s name comes from the Latin word for “executioner”. Their early lineup includes Scott Lewis, Cory Arford and Shawn Cameron, with Steve McMahon and Travis also listed as former members.

History

The band forms in 2005 in San Diego, California, and releases two demos before signing to This City Is Burning Records. It issues its debut album, Dead In My Arms, and then moves to Victory Records in 2008. The Diseased and the Poisoned follows and reaches number 19 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart.

Carnifex then releases Hell Chose Me in 2010 and Until I Feel Nothing in 2011. The latter is produced by Tim Lambesis, the vocalist of As I Lay Dying. In 2012, Scott Ian Lewis announces that the band is entering an indefinite hiatus, but the group resumes activity in 2013.
