Carmody

Carmody is an Italian new wave band from Torino, active from 1981 to 1985. The group works in a synthpop and minimal synth style, with a sound centred on synthesisers and drum machines and occasional guitar.

The core line-up consists of Andrea Lesmo on synthesisers, tapes, bass and guitar, and Alberto Ramella on vocals. In the later part of the band’s run, Massimiliano Casacci also helps on guitar. Casacci is later associated with Subsonica and with Casasonica Studios.

The band records three rare demo tapes during its active years. In 2009, German label Anna Logue Records issues a compilation of their material, A Better Spider.

Carmody is associated with fellow Torino acts Monuments and Chromagain, and follows a similar minimal electronic path.
