Carlton and The Shoes

Carlton and The Shoes are a vocal group from Kingston, Jamaica, active in the late 1960s as rocksteady moves towards reggae. The group’s members are Alexander Henry, Carlton Manning, Donald Manning and Linford Manning. They are associated with the Studio One label and are known for a series of recorded hits in Jamaica.

The group’s best-known song is “Love Me Forever”, which appears in 1968. Carlton Manning leads the group and is the oldest of the Manning brothers, who also include Donald and Linford Manning. Those brothers are also known for their work in The Abyssinians and their song “Satta Massagana”. The group remains active, with activity noted in Jamaica and Japan.
