Carice van Houten is a Dutch actress and singer from the Netherlands. Born in 1976 in Leiderdorp, she studies at the Kleinkunstacademie in Amsterdam and later releases her first studio album, See You on the Ice.

She is the daughter of Margje Stasse, who serves on the board of Dutch educational TV, and Theodore van Houten, a writer and broadcaster. Her younger sister, Jelka van Houten, is also an actress. Carice van Houten attends St. Bonifatiuscollege in Utrecht, where she plays the leading role in Hugo Claus’ Tijl Uilenspieghel, directed by Ad Migchielsen.
