Calling All Astronauts

Calling All Astronauts are a London-based rock group active since 2011. They are described as a socio-political band with industrial metal roots, and their sound also draws on goth, punk, darkwave, drum and bass and EDM. They are associated with darkwave, electropunk, goth rock, punk and political themes.

Formation and background

The group includes members from The Marionettes, Caffeine and US:UK. Their London origin and ongoing activity place them within the UK rock and alternative scenes.

Style and influences

Their music is often compared with Ministry, Rammstein and KMFDM, although it also incorporates elements of goth, drum and bass, EDM, darkwave and punk. This blend gives the band a broader sound than a single genre label suggests.

Releases and recognition

Calling All Astronauts have released 21 singles and three albums. Their third album, #Resist, appears in 2020. Their singles are mixed by Alan Branch, a double Grammy winner who has worked with Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode and U2. The band has reached number one on Hype Machine’s Twitter Music Chart five times and receives radio play on stations including BBC 6 Music, Radio X and Total Rock.

Live work

Their earlier line-up histories include touring with The Offspring, The Cult, Sisters Of Mercy, Blink-182, AFI, Less Than Jake and The Dickies. They also appear at festivals including Kendal Calling, Guilfest, Bamboozle, Beautiful Days and Treffen Gothik.
