Buffalo Tom

Buffalo Tom are an American alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. They form in 1986 and are made up of guitarist Bill Janovitz, bassist Chris Colbourn and drummer Tom Maginnis. The band’s name comes from Buffalo Springfield and Maginnis’s first name.

Career

Buffalo Tom establish themselves as part of the rise of indie guitar rock in the 1990s, although they have limited commercial success. They do not officially split up, but they take a break for about seven years from around 1999/2000. During that period, Janovitz and Colbourn work on solo material and other projects, with Janovitz also performing with The Crown Victoria and Colbourn collaborating with former Fuzzy singer/guitarist Hilken Mancini. Maginnis works in publishing.

Reactivation and later releases

The trio begin playing together again in 2007 and release Three Easy Pieces, an album of new material. They remain active and tour behind Quiet and Peace, which appears in 2018.
