Bryan Kearney

Bryan Kearney is an Irish techno and trance DJ and producer from Dublin. He begins DJing at the age of 19 and establishes himself on the Irish dance scene through a style that combines upfront trance and techno, with an emphasis on energy and unexpected changes in his sets.

Broadcast work and Dublin club nights

He is a regular presence on Dublin radio in 2002 and 2003, with prime-time shows on Energy FM and Kiss FM. In 2003, he starts his own night, Tranceformation, in the Crypt at Temple Theatre. All three events are full houses, and this leads to support slots for artists including MIKE and Lisa Lashes on the main stage.

Production and collaborations

While developing as a producer, Kearney earns a Higher National Diploma in Sound Operations and Music Technology. One of his early collaborations with John O’Callaghan is Restricted Motion, which is released on Discover Records after label boss John Askew signs it and also remixes it.

He later remixes Fire & Ice’s Lost Emotions, which is signed by Bonzai Records. This makes him the first Irish producer to have a production signed to Bonzai. The remix appears on Matt Hardwick’s Essential Mix and is played as the midnight track at UK club Passion on New Year’s Eve. He also releases an edit of Melly’s Arrival and Sean Tyas’s Lift, issued on GRH and Discover Records.

Notable releases

Another collaboration with John O’Callaghan, Exactly, is released on Discover Records and attracts wide attention in the trance scene. It becomes a favourite of Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk, is remixed by Giuseppe Ottaviani of NU-NRG, and is requested for many album compilations. It is also regarded by many as one of the major trance anthems of Ibiza in 2006.

By the end of 2006, Kearney develops his sound further and records his debut track, More To Life, which is signed to Discover Dark in 2007. John Askew is a strong supporter of the track, and it is included on John O’Callaghan and Greg Downey’s Live As.

Residencies and later development

He holds three residencies at the Vaults in Dublin and continues to perform as a DJ in Ireland and abroad. He also signs with UK agency Godwin Management for UK bookings.
