BRONCHO

BRONCHO is an American indie rock group from Norman, United States, formed in 2010. The band starts with Ryan Lindsey and keeps a lineup that includes Johnathon Ford, Ryan Lindsey, Penny Pitchlynn and Nathan Price. Lindsey handles vocals and guitar, Pitchlynn plays bass, and Price plays drums; the group is also associated with guitarist Ben King in its listed lineup.

Sound and style

The band works across indie rock with strong links to punk, post-punk, new wave, glam rock and psychedelic rock. Its early material is rooted in a raw, punk-influenced approach, and later releases move through tighter art-rock and psych-pop to more shoegaze- and dream-pop-inflected territory.

BRONCHO releases five studio albums: Can't Get Past the Lips, Just Enough Hip to Be Woman, Double Vanity, Bad Behavior and Natural Pleasure. The debut album draws on gritty 1970s punk and surf rock. Just Enough Hip to Be Woman includes “Class Historian”, described as a breakthrough track. Double Vanity shifts toward a more new wave sound, while Bad Behavior is a compact set of art-rock and psych-pop. Natural Pleasure continues the band’s move into shoegaze-inspired rock and dream-pop.

Several BRONCHO songs appear in television and film. “It’s On” features in the HBO series Girls, and “Class Historian” appears in commercials, television series including Santa Clarita Diet and Reservation Dogs, and the film Vacation.
