Brent Mason is an American country session guitarist and songwriter from Van Wert, Ohio. Born in 1959, he teaches himself to play guitar by ear at the age of five and later moves to Nashville, Tennessee after high school to pursue a career in country music.

Mason becomes one of the most in-demand session guitarists in country music. He is discovered by Chet Atkins, who invites him to play on Atkins’ Stay Tuned album. He then records and performs with a wide range of artists, including George Strait, Alan Jackson, Shania Twain, David Gates and Neil Diamond.

As a songwriter, Mason co-writes Clinton Gregory’s “Play, Ruby, Play” and McBride & the Ride’s “Hurry Sundown”. He also releases two instrumental studio albums: Hot Wired on Mercury Records and Smokin’ Section, which he records with his brother Randy.

He wins a Grammy Award and is a 12-time Academy of Country Music Guitarist of the Year, as well as a two-time CMA Musician of the Year. He is widely described as one of the most recorded guitarists in history.
