Boys Noize

Boys Noize is the stage name of Alex Ridha, a Berlin-based DJ and producer born in Hamburg, Germany in 1982. He starts producing and DJing at an early age and first draws attention by supporting artists including Felix Da Housecat and DJ Hell. His work spans acid techno, EBM, electro, electro house, electronic and electronica.

Releases and label work

Ridha first releases music on labels including International Deejay Gigolos Records, Kitsuné and Turbo Recordings. In 2005 he sets up his own label, Boysnoize Records, to keep full artistic freedom. The label later reaches its 50th release and launches the BNR Trax sublabel. A second label, ONES AND ZEROS, is also associated with the project.

His albums include Oi Oi Oi and Power, which feature tracks such as “Don’t Believe the Hype”, “&Down” and “Jeffer”.

Collaborations and remixes

As a producer and remixer, Ridha works with a wide range of artists, including David Lynch, N.E.R.D., Depeche Mode, Snoop Dogg and The Chemical Brothers. He also works with Kelis, Kano and Black Eyed Peas. Chilly Gonzales’ Ivory Tower is his first fully produced and co-written album.

He collaborates with Erol Alkan on the projects Dog Blood and Handbraekes, and also releases the records “Death Suite”/“Waves” and “Lemonade”/“Avalanche” with him. A version of “Avalanche” features Jarvis Cocker.

Recognition

Ridha receives the Independent Music Award in 2010 and is named Beatport’s Best Electronic Artist for three consecutive years. His DJ sets are known for live mixing and remixing on the spot, and he is regarded as a technically skilled performer and showman.

Style

His sound draws on hip-hop and disco influences and is described as combining those roots with an innovative electronic approach.
