Bottomless Pit

Bottomless Pit is a Chicago indie rock band active from 2005 to 2014. The group forms after the earlier work of members in other Chicago-area underground bands and builds a sound described as post-punk, with soulful, emotionally intense and often transcendent qualities.

Formation and membership

The band forms in the fall of 2005 in Chicago, United States. It includes Andy Cohen, Chris Manfrin and Tim Midyett; the original line-up is completed by Brian Orchard. Cohen and Midyett previously play in Silkworm, while Manfrin is associated with Seam and Orchard with .22.

Recordings

Bottomless Pit’s first album is Hammer of the Gods, which is also the first release on New Jersey label Comedy Minus One. It is followed by the Congress EP and the albums Blood Under the Bridge and Shade Perennial.

Later activity

In 2014, Tim Midyett announces that the band is going on indefinite hiatus.
